Familiarity with the surrounding, having people closest to you around you and being able to talk to doctors you can trust, are all essential to a person undergoing treatment for cancer. Needless to say, the treatment center needs to be recognized and accredited by the concerned state and federal departments of health. Where needed, families may also consider bringing in the services of qualified and experienced social workers, who will help in keeping the patient in a positive frame of mind.
Survivor network
Most cities in town in the United States, like the rest of the world, have groups of cancer survivors, who not only meet to celebrate their victory over the disease, but act as morale boosters to cancer patients as well as families of these suffering from cancer. These networks are important because they exemplify the fact that at least some cancers are curable or treatable, and people who once had cancer can go back to living almost normal everyday lives.
